Why Wole Soyinka was the inspiration for naming Abuja Road The wit

Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has explained why he thought Wole Soyinka should be the name of one of the newly-commissioned roads in the FCT.

Project N20, which stretches from Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway in the Federal Capital City, was reportedly commissioned by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, according to koupun.

Wole Soyinka Way was its official name.

Completion of the road project has offered relief to the citizens of the FCT, according to Wike, who disclosed that the contract for its construction was granted in 2020 at a cost of N30.6 billion.

He went on to say, “the proposal to dedicate the road to Prof. Wole Soyinka is rooted in the importance of honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to progress and development during their lifetime, thus setting an example for others.”

The minister extended his gratitude to the contractor for completing the road project on schedule.

President Tinubu, the National Assembly leadership, and members of the Federal Executive Council were all praised by FCT Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud for their support to the FCT Administration in her speech.

Additionally, the Minister of State conveyed gratitude to other parties involved, such as the FCDA engineers and the building crew, for their contributions in realizing Arterial Road N20.

According to her, the capital city’s transportation network is now safer, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly thanks to the arterial’s development in the FCT.
