In the Akoko region of Ondo State, gunmen who are believed to be kidnappers boarded an 18-seater bus and abducted an undisclosed number of passengers.
The incident took place on Saturday evening in Ikare-Irun on the Akoko – Ado Ekiti expressway in the state, according to LEADERSHIP.
It was also discovered that the assailants ambushed the victims around the intersection of Irun Akoko and Imesi Ekiti.
The victims, who were reportedly from the Irun Akoko, Ikare Akoko, and Ekiti villages, were allegedly on their way back from a function when the abduction occurred.
Authorities in Ekiti and Ondo states, as well as members of the Amotekun Corps and local vigilantes, are scouring the woods for survivors, according to a source who spoke with LEADERSHIP.
As of the publication of this article, the Ondo State Police Command has not responded to the event.
