According to Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, the commissioner of police for Kogi State, two students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Osara, Kogi State, were kidnapped and murdered by their captors while they were negotiating a ransom.
CP Onuoha made the announcement during a press conference in Lokoja, the capital of the state, on Sunday. He expressed his deepest condolences for the loss of life of two university students, James Michael Anajuwe (a 100-level IT student) and Musa Hussein (a 100-level software engineering student).
Security personnel were making every effort to apprehend the criminals, according to the chief of police in Kogi State.
According to LEADERSHIP, the kidnappers stormed the school about 9 o’clock on May 9, 2024, as pupils were studying for tests. They opened fire intermittently before snatching away a few of the children.
Although 21 of the kidnapped students have been located with the help of local hunters, there are rumors that a small number of pupils are still with the kidnappers.
Despite continuing ransom discussions with the parents, Malam Nasir Ibrahim, the publicity secretary of the non-governmental organization Education For All (E4A), denounced the murder of the two pupils.
