On Thursday, the federal government revealed the Young and Secure project’s logo and characteristics. The project aims to promote national security by enhancing collaboration between youth and the police.
This project is a part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to restore faith and hope among young Nigerians in the Police Force. It was jointly unveiled at the Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja, by Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for Police Affairs, and Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development.
During his speech, Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to guaranteeing the well-being of every Nigerian citizen.
It is with great pleasure that I join my distinguished colleague, the Minister of State for Youth Development, in presenting to you today the Young and Secure Project’s objective: to fortify national security through increased cooperation between the youth and the police.
The platform gives Nigeria’s young people a voice and encourages them to take an active role in protecting their communities, which strengthens their position in the country’s security architecture.
“The core of the program is founded on the idea that we are all citizens, each having an obligation to help ensure the safety and security of our country,” she emphasized.
An unbreakable spirit and unflinching drive characterize the Nigerian young, the minister added, adding, “Despite the myriad challenges we face, our spirit remains unbroken.”
The nation has faced with enormous issues in bridging the divide between youth and law enforcement authorities,” Minister of State for Youth Development Ayodele Olawande said in his remark.
There is an immediate need for aggressive and creative solutions, he said, because “trust and understanding” are eroding between these important parts of society.
Here he revealed: “The Young and Secure initiative emerges as a critical platform to address this pressing issue and forge a new era of collaboration, respect, and mutual empowerment between our youth and law enforcement agencies.”
Please take advantage of this chance for cooperation and discussion as we reveal the initiative’s logo and describe its elements today.
“Together, government agencies, civil society organizations, the media, and, above all, the active engagement of our youth and all other stakeholders in the Nigerian dream will ensure that we achieve the goals of Young and Secure.”
According to DIG Dasuki Galadachi, who is representing the Inspector General of Police, the police are now undergoing changes. The youth assistance desk is an additional initiative that the current leadership has revived to allow residents to report any issues to the police.
In addition to the Post Provost Marshall, Escort, IGP Monitoring Unit, Human Rights Desk, and Police Complaint Response Unit, he mentioned that Nigerians can now use social media platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and the youth desk to voice their legitimate complaints and get them addressed.
