Alejandro Garnacho’s fantastical overhead kick against Everton won the English Premier League’s Goal of the Season award for 2023/24, adding to the joy he already felt after scoring in the FA Cup final at Wembley the day before.

In November, the league honored the instantly memorable goal, which was the opening score in United’s 3-0 victory at Goodison Park last year.

At the end of the season, it competed with the other eight ‘Goal of the Month’ winners from the entire campaign, including three other players from United.

Bruno Fernandes was in the running for the October award because of his thunderous volley against Burnley; Kobbie Mainoo for his solitary wonder goal against Wolves in February; and Marcus Rashford for his thunderous long-ranger against Manchester City in March.

However, when everything was said and done, Garnacho came out on top.

With the club’s own version of the award set to be announced in the coming days, the Argentinian international is sure to be named the winner, adding to his accolade of Goal of the Season from the BBC.
