Anto Lecky responded to musician Wizkid’s recent social media outburst in which Don Jazzy, a senior music executive, was characterized as an ordinary “influencer” on ADBN TV.

“I don’t know the crust of the issue but from what I read in the press, I do believe that he [Wizkid] used the work influencer was meant to be seen negatively,” she stated concerning the matter.

“I believe that what he was trying to say was… Many people view influencers as those who are unable to secure gainful employment.

A lot of people think, “This one, with her degree, she got nowhere in the job market and now she’s dancing on Instagram.” That’s simply how most people perceive an influencer.

“The word influencer now feels like ‘this one no get work.'” This is why many people try to brand themselves as a certain type of influencer, such as a lifestyle influencer or a fashion influencer.

A profile of it is now necessary for this reason. As an example, I perform a lot of work at the grassroots level, so I like to think of myself as a social influencer—someone who is active in the social realm, not merely on social media.

Thus, I prefer the term “social advocacy influencer” if I must be referred to as an influencer. I threw that one in since I’m well aware of how common it is for influencers to feel like they’re lacking in any respect.
