Three people in Aba are being held on suspicion of dealing in damaged railway lines and slippers by members of the National Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Abia State command.
While speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday yesterday at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia, the capital of the state, Usman Alfadarai, the state commandant, made this statement.
It is disheartening to see how their actions go against President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the determination of our commandant-general, Ahmed Audi, to eradicate crime and criminality from the nation, he said.
The individuals in question were apprehended at their 2nd Power Line facility by Ogbo Osisi of Urratta, he added. The accused are reported to be part of a network that deals in scrap metals, specifically footwear and railway lines.
During the search, we seized a significant amount of slippers and railway lines that were being prepared for shipment to Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
“We will expand our investigations to uncover all the culprits in these activities that are capable of crippling the economy of the country,” he added, adding that suspects were captured at the spot.
