In special operations in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops of the One Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have killed six terrorists and detained three others.

The forces conducted a special fighting patrol to the Galadimawa general area in Giwa LGA in response to credible intelligence of terrorist activities in the region, according to a statement by Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

According to him, the operation began at Sabon Sara hamlet, where the soldiers found a herd of rustled cattle that the militants had left behind when they fled the area.

Before continuing their approach, the soldiers retrieved the animals and distributed them to the people.

Aruwan noted that the soldiers later located the rebels at Galadimawa’s Market Square, and that six of the militants were killed in a rapid exchange of gunfire.

The three individuals apprehended by the army during their investigation of the market area were believed to be providing logistical support to the criminal groups, as well as collaborators and informants. In addition, four cell phones and two motorbikes were found.

Senator Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna State, praised the troops led by Major General Mayirenso Saraso, who is also the commander of Operation Whirl Punch, for their breakthrough when receiving the report.

In an effort to depose further criminal networks, the governor has ordered the security forces to conduct a comprehensive probe.

It further cautioned informants who supply terrorists details on the whereabouts of security officers and citizens to stop doing what they’re doing because they’re being pursued with vigorous prosecution.
