Manchester United decide Sofyan Amrabat’s transfer

Manchester United have chosen not to make midfielder Sofyan Amrabat’s loan contract permanent following a disappointing stay at the club, according to Football Insider.

The Morocco international, who signed on loan from Fiorentina for £8.5 million, will return to his parent club at the end of current season.

Amrabat, who earned great notice after his impressive performances for Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, joined Man United last summer.

However, his stay at Old Trafford was tarnished by an initial injury, restricting his early contributions.

When he did return, an injury crisis forced him into an unfamiliar left-back role, where he struggled to make an impression.

Throughout the season, the 27-year-old made only 20 league appearances with just nine starts, failing to win a regular berth in manager Erik ten Hag’s lineup.

Despite a temporary uptick in form, Amrabat did not do enough to convince the Red Devils to trigger the £21.4 million purchase option.

As Amrabat travels back to Fiorentina, Man United will now aim to address their midfield issues, especially with Casemiro’s problems, making their next midfield signing a critical one.
