The maiden flight from General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin for the 2024 Muslim pilgrimage has been moved to Tuesday, May 21.
Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board stated in a statement by the executive secretary, Abdulkadir Abdulsala, in Ilorin on Sunday that the modification in the date is from NAHCON and airlines owing to certain delays in the initial preparations.
Pilgrims from Kwara had initially been slated to take their maiden flight on Monday, May 20, 2024.
“What this change means is that our pilgrims should not come to the camp today (Sunday) again, as earlier announced. They should come tomorrow, Monday, May 20, ahead of their debut flight on Tuesday at 10:20 am.
“This affects only the intending pilgrims whose names were earlier scheduled for the inaugural flight. Further information will be given to guide all our pilgrims and the general public. While this little alteration is regrettable, it is absolutely out of the jurisdiction of the state pilgrims board or any local authorities,” the statement said.
