Finidi George, head coach of the Super Eagles, has stated that earning a spot in the FIFA World Cup in 2026 is a top priority.

Finidi has stated his intention to do all in his power to guarantee that the Super Eagles will be able to attend the Mundial for the second year in a row.

You may remember that the Super Eagles didn’t make it to the previous World Cup, which Qatar hosted.

After drawing their first two matches against Zimbabwe and Lesotho, the three-time African champions will have a tough time advancing to the 2026 World Cup finals.

In their upcoming two qualification matches, the Super Eagles will take on South Africa and Benin.

The success of Finidi’s task, he said, would depend on the prayers and support of every Nigerian.

Every Nigerian must do their part to ensure that their country plays well in the World Cup qualification matches against South Africa and the Benin Republic.

While visiting the Abuja office of the Nigeria Football Federation, Finidi told reporters, “I know I am in charge now and the heavy responsibility is on me to win the two world cup matches.”

To make it to the World Cup, I will give it my all. Even though they didn’t make it to the last tournament in Qatar, I’ve been in touch with the players, and they’re eager to make up for it this time around.

I have been keeping tabs on our opponents so I am well-informed.

Because we live in a really global village, it is possible to keep tabs on everything from the convenience of one’s living room.

We are capable of doing this, and we will do it well, but we need everyone’s prayers and support. Once a week, I go to each of our players’ different clubs to see them play.

“I don’t want to be evaluated based on the two international friendlies that we played; what matters is that we win both matches.”

The NFF officially announced Finidi’s appointment as head coach of the Super Eagles last week.
